A popular destination, the Chapel welcomes hundreds of visitors every day for services, concerts, ceremonies, tours, and moments of personal reflection and prayer.
As a widely recognized symbol of the university, the Chapel offers a magnificent gathering space for significant events in the life of the university and its members. It is the site of the Opening Convocation ceremony welcoming first-year students and the Baccalaureate ceremony sending forth graduating seniors, as well as many other university events.
Many of life’s major transformations—including baptisms, weddings, and memorials—are marked inside the Chapel by students, staff, faculty, and alumni. Outside the Chapel, its steps and quad regularly serve as a public square for the university with a continuing tradition of vigils, celebrations, and protests.
